What does the funeral reveal about Miss Emily and the town?
The funeral reveals that the women in the town do not care about other people, only about the things the people obtain. All of a sudden Miss Emily Grierson died, and all the women of the town want to see the inside of her house “mostly out of curiosity,” which has not been seen in ten years. The men attend “through a sort of respectful affection.” Also, the town must be small because even though she never came out of her house and did nott say much to anyone, people still knew of her and some things about her. It reveals that she’s old and well known for the few things she’s actually accomplished. Despite this, Emily is still shrouded in mystery due to her never leaving the house.
